About the Company

A rare opportunity to join this market leading pan-European financial services firm as their CRO, providing strategic risk management counsel at the highest levels, safeguarding their organisational value.

About the Position

As Chief Risk Officer, you'll be instrumental in protecting and fostering a strong, proactive risk culture across their pan-European operations. You'll lead the charge in navigating a dynamic regulatory landscape, providing independent challenge and expert advice to the Board and executive management. This is a CBI designated PCF 14 role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape Strategic Direction: Provide clear strategic and operational guidance on all risk matters.
  • Build Resilience: Implement and embed a robust 3 Lines of defence model, strengthening their risk management capabilities.
  • Drive Framework Evolution: In partnership with the Group CRO, evolve and enhance the risk management framework to meet stakeholder expectations, regulatory scrutiny, and support growth opportunities.
  • Advise and Challenge: Offer independent second line challenge and expert advice at Board, Committee, and executive levels, overseeing risk mitigation plans.
  • Lead a High-Performing Team: Manage and develop the EU-DAC risk function, cultivating strong risk capabilities.
  • Ensure Regulatory Excellence: Maintain an expert understanding of the regulatory environment, building strong relationships with the CBI and other relevant bodies.
  • Protect Reputation: Safeguard and enhance the firm’s reputation with clients and regulatory bodies across their various region.
  • Foster Transparency and Cross Functional Collaboration: Establish a clear risk appetite and deliver consistent, aggregated risk reporting to drive focused management action.
  • Support Growth: Operate as a key member of the EU-DAC Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the development and safe delivery of the company's strategy.

Experience/Requirements

The ideal CRO will have: 
  • Extensive proven track record of 10 yrs plus at a senior risk leadership level in financial services with a strong understanding of the Irish regulatory landscape.
  • Adept communication and influencing skills, capable of engaging effectively with Boards, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Deep expertise in risk identification, assessment, frameworks, policies, and reporting.
  • A track record of successfully implementing and maintaining robust risk management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a focus on delivering clear, actionable management information.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of governance and regulatory compliance, current PCF holder. 
  • Demonstrated ability and proven impacts with fostering a strong risk culture.
