Interim Chief Infrastructure Officer (Fixed term contract 9 months)About the Company
Brightwater Executive is delighted to partner with our client, a large complex organisation based in Dublin in their search for an Interim Chief Infrastructure Officer.
About the Position
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Interim Chief Infrastructure Officer will oversee the management and development of infrastructure across multiple sites. This role is central to the planning, delivery, and evolution of capital programmes and facilities to meet changing organisational needs. Responsibilities include strategic planning, governance, budgeting, operations, and team leadership. The role also ensures compliance with health, safety, and wellbeing standards for all users of the facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide direction for infrastructure and estates services, ensuring alignment with national policy and climate action goals.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day management of multiple sites and facilities, including regional responsibilities under statutory requirements.
- Capital Programme Delivery: Lead planning and execution of capital projects, ensuring integration with long-term development and sustainability targets.
- External Relations: Act as primary liaison with government departments, funding bodies, regulatory agencies, and other key stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop cross-functional teams, fostering high performance and continuous improvement across estates and planning functions.
- Financial Management: Oversee capital budgets and investment planning, ensuring effective allocation of resources and contractor performance.
- Health, Safety & Wellbeing: Ensure comprehensive systems are in place to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all personnel and visitors.
- Governance & Risk: Implement robust governance, reporting, and risk management frameworks to support compliance and strategic objectives.
Experience/Requirements
- A third-level honours degree in a relevant field with a postgraduate qualification
- 8 years' + senior management experience in estates, public infrastructure policy, managing capital portfolios or transformation programmes.
- Proven ability to lead diverse, multi-skilled teams through significant organisational change.
- Strong background in governance, budgeting, and delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience using data and evidence to shape and enhance services across complex operations.
- Demonstrated responsibility for managing safety systems and promoting staff wellbeing across large estates or functions.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to sustainability, innovation, and positive societal impact.
